Envato Foundation partners with Indigitek
It is the Foundation’s fourth partner since it launched in March with a commitment to supporting charitable and non-profit organisations that focus on Indigenous education and skills development.
The new partnership was announced in Envato’s 2019 Impact Statement, released today.
The Foundation will commit $100,000 for the remainder of the financial year to assist Indigtek in establishing a Melbourne presence, with an in-principal agreement to extend support for a further two years.
Chair of the Envato Foundation Briany Kalms said the Foundation was excited to find a partner that was such a close match to its funding priorities and the technology space.
“It has been unexpected, but an overwhelmingly positive connection with Indigitek. Our vision is focussed on education for Indigenous children and youth, and in Indigitek, we’ve found an organisation that has similar goals, which are also closely aligned with Envato’s overall business.”
“They’ve got clear goals in place about how they will scale up their support for Indigenous job seekers in Melbourne and beyond. We’re very much looking forward to the future of the partnership.”
Indigitek co-founder Liam Ridgeway said the support from the Envato Foundation would help the organisation to further support the growth of a thriving and collaborative Indigenous STEM community. “We can achieve this by providing culturally appropriate tech and STEM learning and career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”
“We want to provide self-determination and economic opportunities for Indigenous communities, whether they are urban, regional or remote and using STEM as a vehicle to achieve this.”
“Envato Foundation’s journey to make an impact with Indigenous communities through its support of education and employment opportunities is significantly aligned to what we do at Indigitek, and is a natural fit for us to work together to support our shared journeys,” concluded Ridgeway.
